Amedzofe is a community located on the Togo- Ranges with a height of 2440 feet above sea level in the Ho-West District of the Volta Region. It is the biggest and most populated community amongst the seven communities that form the Avatime Traditional Area.
The people of Amedzofe being part of the Avatime Traditional Area Speak a dialect called “SIDEMESE OR SIYASE” and are also referred to as “KEDEONE OR KEDANIMA” (Avatime People, a tribe that does not speak Ewe but lives on the Ewe land as well).
Amedzofe Community is Notable for its early exposure to education through the activities of the German Bremen Missionaries who came to the community in the year 1886 to explore the village. The weather and the topography of the area caught their eye and they found it suitable for their activities, they later came back and settled in the year 1889 to fully begun their missionary activities.
The German Bremen missionaries brought education to the people of Amedzofe through the word of God. It was not easy due to the fact that the people of Amedzofe are War like people who believed so much in their deities and smaller gods in their possession which they worship.
The community though on a high land is Rich in Agricultural activities such as the production of banana, growing of Potatoes, Cassava, upland Rice, Cocoyam, Yam and many other cash crops with its seasonal vegetable farming activities.
The people of Amedzofe Celebrate Yam festival which has now being incorporated into the Tourism Day Festival to celebrate Agriculture, Culture and Tourism Together.
The people of Amedzofe are calm and hospitable as they can boost of the cold weather and climate. In case you want a community to experience nature and a cool weather, Amedzofe is the best community to best community to be.
